News: Reggie Downplays Drought Rumours

Boss of NoA responds to rumours that the Wii could suffer from a possible game drought.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has responded to rumours that have been circling about a possible games-drought on the Wii.

One of the main reasons for the demise of the Gamecube was due to a lack of flowing first party titles. Consistency was seriously lacking, and with rumours of Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 being delayed (until at least October 2007), could history be repeating itself?

In an interview with Newsweek, Reggie has commented on the situation:

Reggie: ... how do I answer the question, "Will there be no drought," and "How will we make sure that there are fantastic titles for Wii?" The answer is Zelda, Metroid and Mario. Which is a pretty darn good lineup.

Newsweek: So are you willing to make a "Read my lips" pledge right here?

Reggie: I thought I just did."

Strong words from the big guy. But, is he all talk and no action? Only time will tell.
