News: Reggie Talks About Wii-DS Connectivity

Reggie reveals some of Nintendo's plans in regards to further use of DS' wireless functions.

Speaking to New York Times, NoA's CEO, Reggie "Bag Full of Names" Fils-Aime said that Nintendo intends to make good use of Wii and DS wireless capabilities by allowing users to download demos, add-ons and full games on the Wii and then stream them wirelessly to the handheld. He gave the example of downloading new puzzles to Level 5's puzzle game Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Nintendo also plans to bring different uses for the DS to the West, like using it as a guide to museums as it is in Japan.

This will probably be performed by the Wii Channel "Everybody's Nintendo", which is already available in Japan, but the download of full games is something new.

Let's hope Europe gets these features soon, so stay tuned for news!

UPDATE!

The New York Times just haven't had a good week. After several typos when attempting to write Reggie's full name, Nintendo have now confirmed that the newspaper mixed up DS demos and WiiWare titles. There are no plans to offer full DS games through the Wii, unfortunately.
