Extra content not previously available on the GameCube version confirmed.
Don't you just love developers such as Rockstar and Capcom. After years of being the butt of many a joke, the tables have finally turned. Rockstar have developed a game that has been deemed as so psychologically disturbing that it has been banned from being sold in several different countries, and Capcom are just beavering away with their zombie-ridden Resident Evil series. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is today's topic, as Nintendo reveal more gruesome and heart-thudding content that will be coming to the arm-flailing Wii version.
Assignment: Ada is back from the GameCube version, and sees you once again stepping into the high-heels of the mysterious Ada Wong. This bonus mission sees you blasting the bejesus out of the crazed Western Europeans in an attempt to recover five samples of the Los Plagas parasites. Once this mission and the main story mode have been completed, bonuses will be unlocked such as the Professional story mode, special costumes, the Matilda handgun, the infinite launcher and the Chicago Typewriter submachine gun. The Mercenaries mode is also back, which sees you running around the village trying to wipe out as many of the annoying cretins as you can before time is up.
Capcom have also included the Movie Browser in the Wii Edition. Unlocked after Professional mode has been completed, this allows you to watch every FMV sequence from the game (including from Assignment: Ada) whenever you want. The P.R.L. (Parasite Removal Laser) 412 weapon is also unlocked after you complete Professional mode.
Previously only available in the PS2 version of the game, the Wii Edition also features the five chapter mini-game 'Separate Ways', in which you once again take control of Ada Wong. You have a limited supply of guns and other firearms, but this time you get to wield your very own trusty knife to stab those zombie-wannabes to the depths of Lucifer's wheelie bin. You can also collect money to buy new weapons. Defeating this new content unlocks a new costume for Leon.
Excited yet? What about if we told you that all of the PS2 content will be rejigged to be presented in gorgeous Wii graphics and controls? This game is living proof that the Wii don't need HD.
Stay tuned to N-Europe for the latest on Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, and watch out for a preview and review in the coming weeks.
