News: Resident Evil 6 Being Pondered

Where next for the Resident Evil franchise? Looks like the series producers aren't even sure themselves...
The Resident Evil crew were out in force at Comic Con and were more than happy to answer questions on the much-loved survival horror series.
When asked about the future of Resident Evil, Jun Takeuchi had this to say:
"[Masachika Kawata and I] are playing blackjack to see who has the responsibility of next episode of series."
Curiously, Takeuchi didn't specify whether that meant the winner or the loser would be tasked with the monumental challenge of handling the series. Takeuchi and Kawata both had chief roles in producing Resident Evil 5, with the former's CV stretching back to the very first games on PlayStation and the latter having also had a hand in Umbrella Chronicles and its upcoming sequel.
However, the sucker punch of the answer came right after:
"It doesn't appear either of us is going to be in charge. I can't say much at this time."
Takeuchi's answer suggests Capcom have been somewhat thrown by the less-than-stunning response to Resident Evil 5. Far too early to take this as confirmation as a 'reboot', though it looks like a different producer will be helming Resident Evil 6. Either that or our dreams will be answered and Shinji Mikami will be returning to the series in style.
