News: Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles Details

If you were expecting a survival horror game, think again...

The latest news on Capcom's other title in the Resident Evil series it has in the works for the Wii will probably not please everyone. First announced some months ago, many assumed Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles would be a survival horror title, much like the other main entries in the series, however it now appears the title will more play like a shoot-em-up.

The game will feature many famous faces from the series' past, as the story stretches from Resident Evil Zero right up to the collapse of Umbrella at the start of the fourth game. Returning faces will include the original duo of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine back together again, along with Albert Wesker, Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen.

Played from a first-person perspective and using full 3D graphics, the Wii-mote will be used to aim at zombies, though you will only be able to control your route at special branch points. Otherwise, your path will be fixed, though looking around as you go will apparently see you rewarded with secret items. The button-mashing sequences of Resident Evil 4 (hopefully as tough as the Krause knife fight) will also return.

A trailer for the game will be included in the recently confirmed Bio Hazard 4: Wii Edition, though the title is reportedly still only 25% complete.

More as we get it.
