Breaking: Nintendo Europe's Jim Merrick talks about the Revolution's graphical power, and says the system will recieve a worldwide release over no more than 14 weeks!
Talking to Spanish gaming wesbite Meristation, NoE's Jim Merrick began by discussing the Wi-Fi Connection, and revealed that over 25,000 hotspots will be set up across Europe for the DS/Revolution compatible service.
He confirmed USB Wi-Fi Adapters will retail alongside Mario Kart on November 25th in Europe for 39.95, and said that the adapter will be fully compatible with the Revolution.
Now for the really interesting news. Merrick said that the Revolution would get a worldwide launch within 14 weeks, meaning that no more than 14 weeks after it is released in Japan, it'll be in America, Australia and even Europe.
Multiplayer mode on the Revolution will be similar to the DS' Download Play function: multiple players can play with only one copy of the game.
As for retro titles, you'll be able to download them from different regions (for instance, an European user could download Super Mario RPG for the SNES from the US server). He also said that when played on Revolution, N64 games will have better framerate, but there won't be significant graphical improvements.
On the Revolution games themselves, none will be shown during 2005, but he said there would be no significant differences in their graphics compared to the other systems.
Great news indeed. Fourteen weeks would mean at most three and a half months between a Japanese and European launch - meaning if Japan sees the Revolution early Autumn, Europe could still get the console for Christmas. We'll keep you posted.
