News: Revolution Storage & Pricing Hints

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has commented on the pricing of Revolution titles, and also how downloaded content will be saved...

Speaking to CNN Money, Iwata has called the Revolution the first true "new generation" console, and has once again confirmed it will sell for a far lower price than Microsoft and Sony's offerings. But not only will the console be cheaper, the games will be too. "I cannot imagine any first party title could be priced for more than $50," he said, commenting that the current prices for Xbox 360 games were extortionate.

Commenting that new content would be available through the Virtual Console service, Iwata said that it would make much more sense to have new simple titles for sale via download than through the traditional way.

Some concern has been felt as to whether the 512MB of internal flash memory would be enough to hold all the downloaded content, but Iwata said that the SD memory card slots could also be utilised, and also that the console's USB ports would provide "practically any storage method". Could gamers be backing up downloaded games on their PC? It seems likely...
