News: Rhythm Heaven & 3DS Top Japanese Charts

The Wii version of Rhythm Heaven enters the Japanese charts at number one.

The newest Japanese hardware charts are in courtesy of Media Create and it's been a good week for Nintendo. Andriasang report that Nintendo's own title Rhythm Heaven for the Wii entered the multi-platform chart straight in at number one. It sold 118,173 units, roughly thirty percent more than the second biggest selling title of the week. The top twenty chart also contains four other Wii titles, proving that the console isn't quite over yet in Japan in spite of the Wii U coming next year. The other games are Inazuma Eleven Strikers, Wii Sports Resort (Wii Remote Plus Pack),Wiimote Plus Variety Pack (Wii Play Motion) and 007 Goldeneye.

Nintendo also had a successful week in terms of hardware. The 3DS was the top selling piece of hardware for the week, selling 31,826 units. This is down on the previous week's 46,637 units but the release of a new red 3DS and Star Fox 64 3D, which itself slipped down to 19 in this week's chart, helped with that figure. The Wii was the forth biggest selling hardware for the week, managing to increase the previous week's sales by about 3,00 and sell 17,114 units. Combined sales of the various DS iterations came to 10,334 units.
