Wii owners rejoice, Harmonix confirm Rock Band 2 will not be gimped...

The recent release of Rock Band on the Wii has come in for some heavy criticism mainly due to the lack of DLC and online play. We were promised the sequel would not be "gimped", however over the weekend a story posted on USA Today had Wii owners up in arms. The story said: "Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 2 versions of Rock Band 2 do not offer any Internet connectivity for multiplayer gaming or downloadable music."

It now looks like we won't have to buy track packs for it's sequel after all as Harmonix PR have said "the USA Today story was false and that the Wii version of Rock Band 2 will be fully featured." MTV Games has also confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii version of Rock Band 2 will offer the same online functionality - i.e. song downloads and Internet multiplayer modes � as the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions. The PS2 version, however, will not include online connectivity.
