News: Rockstar Sitting on Open-World DS Title?

Information sourcing from a former Rockstar employee suggests the studio was working on a full 3D, open-world DS game...
Rockstar Games, best known for the Grand Theft Auto series, flirted with DS development a couple of years ago when it released Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - a stylised but surprisingly fully-fledged iteration of the sandbox romp. Whilst it performed decently in the long-term, it didn't exactly set the world alight as per other GTA titles, and few genuinely expected the developer to return to Nintendo's handheld.
However, SystemLink have savvily noted that an AI programmer who recently left Rockstar Leeds has left some information pertaining to an interesting project. After the completion of Chinatown Wars, the employee cites working on "an unannounced DS title set in a full 3D open world".
It goes without saying there's no clue as to what this title is or was, but it's probably safe to say Rockstar are not still working on what sounds like a major DS title. It is perfectly possible the project will reappear in a different form - SystemLink also notes a current Rockstar Leeds employee is working on a project featuring both 2D and 3D art, which could easily be a handheld title. Whether such a project graces Nintendo's 3DS is now up for debate.
We'll keep an ear to the ground on this intriguing Rockstar project, so fingers crossed.
