News: Sammy Talk Sega

Sammy President Hajime Satomi has stated in a recent interview that he wants Sega back in the arcade. Click on for more details.

Bloomberg Japan recently sat down with Sammy President Hajime Satomi, and conversation unsurprisingly turned to their recent business with industry giant Sega. Sammy recently purchased huge shares in the company, an act seemingly intended to rebuild the remains of the collapsed merger between the two companies. But it seems that Sammy are going to take a firm grip on their share of the software legend- and drive them in the right direction.

Mr. Satomi revealed that Sammy want Sega to go back to their roots, and concentrate on the coin-op business. Going back to the arcades would be a smart move for the company- considering the lack of big-hitting titles emerging from the software creators- and the huge profit which would be gained by concentrating on the dilute arcade market. However, Sega would remain in the home-console software business, but they would pick their titles more carefully, ensuring they produce the high-quality titles they are famous for.

Interestingly, the president would like to take a bigger day-to-day role at Sega; and hopes the company will develop for Sammy's own arcade hardware.
