As is the case with most children's animated films a computer game based upon Sony Picture's film Planet 51 is in the works. The game, which shares the name of the film, shall be released alongside the film at the end of this year. The film sees Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker, his robot companion "Rover" and a friend known as Lem land on Planet 51 to discover aliens are living a 1950s suburban American life there.
Pyro Studios, who have previously developed the Commandos games, is working alongside Sega to create a mission-based racing game in which players can chose from a variety of characters and race around the varying landscapes of Planet 51.
Sega hope to show their commitment to a variety of audiences and offer Wii players a diversity of games. “We are continually striving to release games for all consumers and this project will enable us to further enhance our global entertainment business to a wider audience,” commented Mike Hayes, President and CEO of SEGA Europe.
Planet 51 will be released for PC, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS later on in the year so expected more details in the mean time.
