The Japanese publisher and developer calls Wii U "a good platform to develop for" and pledges more than just standard PS3/360 ports...

In the same conversation with Eurogamer that saw him confirm that updated Wii U development kits were on the way to third parties, Sega's Gary Dunn praised the console as being "a good platform to develop for".

After some early work on older dev kits, Dunn said the hardware was "quite powerful". He also confirmed that the publisher was "intent" on releasing Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines on Wii U, despite final confirmation of that decision yet to solidify.

However, he also boldly claimed Sega was not planning on releasing straight, no-frills ports of other HD games on Nintendo's new system

"We wouldn't [do that]. Clearly the new control mechanic allows some asymmetrical gameplay which we're quite excited about - to leverage that when we're looking to put any game on that system."

Such a comment reminds us of the novel-sounding controller features Gearbox had already implemented in their non-official Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

We expect a slow trickle of new Wii U goodness from third parities over the coming months, so stay tuned.
