Sega's corporate director says that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games can get the No 1 this November...

Masanao Maeda, corporate director of Sega has strong hopes for the Sega-Nintendo project Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Maeda expects that the game will sell several million copies when it is released, and that "It surely has potential to be the No.1 title.". Mario & Sonic will be the first game that sees both Mario and Sonic competing against each other. Mario & Sonic will be up against games like Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto 4 and possibly one or two of Nintendo's big franchises.

The title is an official Beijing 2008 Olympic Games product, and will be co-published by both Sega and Nintendo for the Wii and DS. Details on the game are expected soon, with E3 just around the corner.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is due for release around the second week of November in both the US and Europe.
