Tough-talking Sega Managing Director Hideki Okamura plans to bring a nice surprise to the DS.
Yesterday, we reported how Sega were planning to release a title this year in Japan that would 'surprise everyone.' It is now thought that this title will be released on the Nintendo DS, and not only that, but Sega themselves will be shifting its focus away from the Sony PSP and onto the Nintendo DS.
In an interview with Nikkei Shimbun, Sega managing director Hideki Okamura says the company is shifting its focus from PSP to Nintendo DS, pointing out that there is a title they will release this year that will "surprise absolutely everyone."
So, how did the director feel about bring this title to a Nintendo system? A system often praised and rated on its popular first party titles.
"We have to do a lot of thinking about titles for Nintendo's hardware, because Nintendo's own titles are extremely strong. It really is difficult to sell a title as a third party. What that means is that we've got to go after it with force: "heave-ho!" - Sega managing director Hideki Okamura
So, the logic here from Sega: "Nintendo's own titles are great, so we are going to have to try even harder!"
Third parties, take note.
