News: Sharp And Hitachi Fined For Price Fixing

Japanese giants Sharp And Hitachi have been fined for fixing the prices of DS' screen supply.

Back in February both Sharp and Hitachi, producers of DS' screens, were accused of fixing the prices on said screens. Today, the Japanese Fair Trade Commission has fined Sharp 261/2.05/1.9 million under the charges of violating Japan's Antimonopoly Act together with Hitachi by fixing prices.

Sharp has until March 2009 to pay the fine and claims that they've "with gravity the fact we received such orders, and will strengthen our effort of compliance with law and business ethics." and emphasise that they "did not engage in any activities that could be categorized as a violation of Antimonopoly Act."

The company is taking into consideration requesting a hearing.
