News: Sixth Harry Potter Hits Wii & DS This Year

EA announce Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for Nintendo consoles, as well as a lot of others...

EA's Casual Entertainment Label and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have today announced that the game of the movie of the book Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game will be released later this year around the same time as the latest film.

Harvey Elliott, Head of EA Bright Light studio in the UK where the Harry Potter franchise has its home, has said he sees this year's version as a "milestone", as it builds on the "technological advancements of previous games in the series and with a particular focus on the unique control system of Nintendo's Wii."

For non-Potter fans, the sixth book sees the series take an increasingly dark turn, as Hogwarts itself is attacked, readers find out the origins of Voldemort, and the build-up to the final climatic battle of the series begins.

Promised are wizard duels, the ability to mix and brew magical ingredients in Potions class and take to the air to lead the Gryffindor Quidditch team to victory. The game will be out this Autumn for the Wii, DS, PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and on mobile phones.
