News: Skyward Sword Temporarily Dropped MotionPlus

For a few months MotionPlus support was dropped from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword allows for the most realistic Zelda yet in terms of controls thanks to its incorporation of the more accurate MotionPlus technology. However, for a few months support was dropped after a number of problems caused producer Eiji Aonuma to abandon the technology.

This change of mind didn't last too long as Wii Sports Resorts' developer Katsuya Eguchi urged Mr. Aonuma to continue working with MotionPlus by stating, 'Look at all these things you can do with MotionPlus, why wouldn't you use this in a Zelda game? It would be strange not to!'

Support was ultimately added back in and the title has been very well received during last week's E3 event. Mr. Aonuma claims that they have been working hard to bring "bigger and bolder swordplay experiences to the game," and have created powerful enemies to fight with in order to demonstrate this.

Eiji Aonuma also told IGN that development of the title has really picked up in the last twelve months. Late last year Shigeru Miyamoto announced that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was only about 50% complete but according to Mr. Aonuma a lot of progress has been made in the last twelve months and the game is due out later in the year.

"This last year we've been testing those ideas, fleshing them out, and integrating them into the game, bringing the whole package together. Tying all those elements together has been a big part of what we've done in the last year."
