A new Soul Calibur game will be coming to Nintendo's new-generation system. It may not be strictly a fighting game however...

The latest issue of Famitsu has a surprising new title listed: Bandai-Namco is developing Soul Calibur Legends for release on the Wii later this year. A popular weapons-based 3D fighting series, the game's existence on Wii had been rumoured recently but Famitsu makes it official. Very little is currently known about the game, but one fact may surprise and even disappoint some: the game will take on more of an adventure feel (Famitsu even lists the title as "action-adventure"), with the player journeying to meet the powerful characters from the Soul Calibur games. Whether the game will still primarily revolve around a fighting engine is up in the air but it is certain that the Wii remote is expected to lend its magic in bringing the game's various weapons to life.
