Takashi Iizuka, producer of upcoming Sonic Colours, has stated in a recent interview that Sonic fans are "near impossible" to please.

Takashi Iizuka recently spoke to SPOnG and stated that "it's very hard – near-impossible, actually – to please everybody."

Given Sonic's history and diverse games Takashi Iizuka's comments are understandable, as he himself states the franchise became fragmented during the 1990's as it was taken in many different directions. Unfortunately this means that many people remember their first Sonic game to be different from someone else's, so it would be difficult trying to please everyone in this regard.

However, he is not letting this daunt him and is trying to remain as true to the roots of Sonic as he can by focusing on speed and Sonic's daredevil attitude. "As long as these things are maintained, and that focus is still there, the team can think of ways to evolve Sonic, while keeping the fundamentals of attitude and speed," Iizuka claimed during the interview, adding that he felt this was the best way to please as many fans as they can.
