News: Sonic Going Next-Gen!

Sega are all set to reveal Sonic's first next-gen game this week, ahead of the Tokyo Games Show!

Gaming website Kikizo is claiming Sega's next-gen Sonic title will be announced at the end of this week on September 9th, and will make a full appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show, which starts on the fabled September 16th.

A version of the next-gen Sonic was glimpsed in an E3 trailer, shown to the press behind closed doors and later leaked onto the web. It featured a speeding Sonic tearing through the jungle before facing up to an army of mechanical enemies, who tried to gun the hero down in a spray of bullets until Sonic became Super Sonic and kicked their asses.

We should have the first details and screenshots by the end of the week, though TGS will be where a full trailer (or even a playable version) is shown.

Even so, the game is not expected to be out for over a year, first for Xbox 360 and then, most likely, for other next-gen platforms as well. Considering how strongly the Sonic series has featured on the Cube, it's unlikely the Revolution will miss out.

More as we get it!
