While the Wii has more units sold, Sony claim the PS3 is selling more every week...

A few weeks ago we reported that Nintendo was celebrating reaching the milestone of 100,000 Wii units sold in Australia - making it the fastest selling console ever down-under.

This week, Sony have gone on the offensive, with Sony Computer Entertainment Australia's managing director Michael Ephraim claiming that while Nintendo has sold more over-all, the PlayStation 3 has outsold the Wii and the Xbox 360 almost every week since its launch.

Overall, the PlayStation 3 has sold just over 50,000 units since its launch on March 23rd. Sony are putting the healthy sales down to it being sold not only as a games console, but in some stores simply as a Blu-ray player as well.
