News: Sony Gives Two Cents On DSi

Following on from the storm brewed up by the unveiling of DSi last week, Sony discuss what it could mean for Nintendo's successes.
Say what you will about DSi, but it's not difficult to predict that it will set charts alight worldwide when it's finally released. Sony, on the other hand, are no strangers to misjudging the sway of the market. Director of Hardware Marketing, John Koller recently spoke to Gizmodo when the topic of the console came up. He gave his thoughts on the matter:
"Nintendo has kind of a history of these [moderate] kinds of updates, and even with DS Lite, there was a lot of discussion, "Is that enough?" And they seemed to do pretty well there."
So far, so civil, but he goes on...
"I can see the DSi being successful. The DS lite was obviously very successful. Will DSi do well with [the DS's] demographic? It probably will. Will it be a product that expands their user base [beyond] under 12? I'm not sure."
Meow, indeed.
