Phil Harrison and Peter Molyneux have some kind words to say about the Wii Remote...
Sony exec Phil Harrison and Peter Molyneux of Microsoft-owned Lionhead studios have joined in praise of the simplicity and design found in Nintendo's Wii Remote compared to other games controllers.
Harrison compared the handing of over-complicated controllers found on other systems to non-gamers the same as handing them "a live gun or a hand grenade with the pin taken out." Molyneux agreed:
"We don't use half the buttons on the 360 controller, simply because the whole dream I've got is that someone will sit down to play Fable 2 who has never played a game before and they can play with someone who's played games the whole of their lives. I wish there wasn't so many buttons on the controller."
According to Harrison, the Wii Remote has brought "democratisation" to videogame control - levelling the playing field between hardcore and non-gamers. Well, if you can't beat Nintendo...
