News: SpaceWorld Cancelled?

According to a Japanese publication, Nintendo will not host a SpaceWorld this year.

With this year's E3 having ended, the event left many fans craving more info on Nintendo's top titles. However, many of Nintendo's loyal fans hoped they would find out more info about such titles as Animal Crossing 2 and Mario Kart at SpaceWorld. SpaceWorld is an event that Nintendo has hosted every year (bar last year), where the company showcases it's up-and-coming titles aswell as playing host to many big announcements, including news on future hardware and information, Nintendo Dream, a Japanese magazine, has reported that Nintendo will not host SpaceWorld this year either. The last SpaceWorld event took place in 2001. The following year (2002), Nintendo decided not to host the event. Many speculated that Nintendo wanted to concentrate on promoting games in other ways instead of dumping bags of money into one event, such as SpaceWorld. No confirmation on the event has been received by Nintendo.

Ben: Well, it would be a crying shame if this news turned out to be accurate. With E3 having come and gone without the big announcement Nintendo need, and ECTS reknown for being a low-key event, SpaceWorld was Nintendo's last chance to announce something BIG. Well, for this year at least. Let's hope it's just a rumour. Cross your toes..

Tim: I don't think it is too bad a choice actually. I would prefer Nintendo pumping some more money in advertising here in Europe. The E3, ECTS and Tokyo Games Show should cover the events, right? Nintendo don't need an event to announce something bit.

Conor: Noooooooo! Nintendo need Spaceworld, honestly. With their E3 performance being lacking, Spaceworld is needed to show off what games they're working on. And if they don't have a Spaceworld because they don't have the games, well, God help us all.
