News: Spector Refutes Epic Mickey 2 for Wii U

Warren Spector confirms "no plans"...

Junction Point Studios chief Warren Spector has poured cold water over the prospect of a Wii U version of this year's Epic Mickey 2, stating the game was too far into development when the hardware was unveiled.

Speaking to Nintendo Power (via ONM), Spector all but ruled out the game coming to Nintendo's next generation system this year.

"We've certainly thought about it. It's a really interesting piece of hardware. Unfortunately, we were already too far into development by the time it was announced. So there's just no way we could get it out by the time Wii U launches."

While Spector took a 'never say never' attitude to the game on Wii U, he emphasised that there are currently "no plans".

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is coming to Wii later this year. A HD port for PS3/Xbox 360 is being handled by UK studio Blitz Games. As we know that Blitz Games are working on Wii U, Spector's words raise the question of what exactly Blitz could be developing for the system.

A 2D platformer, Epic Mickey 2: Power of Illusion, is also heading to 3DS, courtesy of Dreamrift.
