News: SpotPass Video Content Made Daily

Iwata Asks covers the upcoming SpotPass feature and how videos will be made available to download every day.

One feature that got spoken about in the latest Iwata Asks is the ability to download 3D videos automatically in the near future. While talking to Daiji Imai who is directing the video distribution service, they both mentioned that when the feature comes available to 3DS owners, users can look forward to getting new 3D video content every day.

When the update is available 3DS owners who are either in their own wireless network at home or those who pass a wi-fi area while out will automatically download new content each day as long as they pass a wireless environment. The intent for this service is that videos will essentially swap in and out with each other so when you receieve new videos, you will no longer have the ones downloaded previously due to video rights issues and the fact that piles of videos will build up on the users 3DS making it more troublesome to go through.

Sports videos in particular were said as being the most impressive videos, such as sporting highlights in a competition and seeing news in 3D giving an increased sense of reality so you can feel closer to events thanks to stereoscopic images. Iwata and Imai both expressed that it would be something you could look forward to each day and recommended videos would be downloaded "...before you know it...".
