Square-Enix president Youichi Wada has only got good things to say about Nintendo's future plans for online gameplay.
Wada has picked up on comments made recently by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata about how Nintendo will run its upcoming online service, and suggested Nintendo would surely bring even more gamers to embrace online game play.
The Square-Enix president likes the aspect Nintendo are thinking of introducing to some games - where you are only allowed to connect to people you actually know in real life, thereby "taking the real world seamlessly in the virtual one." It’s worth noting this idea is just for some of the games planned, for example Animal Crossing DS is reportedly a game where this idea will not apply.
He also went on to give tantalising hints at Nintendo's online plans for Revolution, saying that the network plan Nintendo has in store for DS and Revolution is "not just a portable, not just a console - it's exactly what we wanted in that it's the birth of a completely new platform."
Youichi Wada's comments must only foretell a closer partnership between Square-Enix and Nintendo in the future. "From here on," he concluded, "we'll have to challenge ourselves with content in response to what Nintendo offers. We would like to give strong support."
With Square-Enix seemingly on board for Revolution, Nintendo have a strong ally to help them into the next generation. Final Fantasy Online, anyone?
