News: Star Wars: Force Unleashed Announced

DS version is in the works... but where is the Wii version?

You'll be hard-pressed to find somebody on this planet who isn't a fan of the Star Wars movies, and you'll find it even more difficult to find a Nintendo Wii owner who isn't soiling himself over the prospect of using the Wiimote in conjunction with a lightsaber.

Today, thanks to GameInformer and CVG, a new Star Wars title has been revealed. Entitled Star Wars: Force Unleashed, it is set to take place between episodes III and IV, and is planned for release on Sony's PS3 and PS2 systems, as well as the Xbox 360. But..hang on, where's the Wii version?

To put it simply, it is not known whether a Wii version is planned or not. However, there is still a chance for DS owners to play this game, as the title will also hit the DS and PSP, but it is currently not known who has the responsibilities of developing these versions, and the same can be said for the PS2 version. Although, the 360 and PS3 versions will themselves be developed by Lucas Arts in-house.

Force Unleashed uses LucasArts' much-touted Eurphoria engine, which calculates environmental damage such as smashing crates in real-time. One given example of the tech is how a tree will either break in two or splinter realistically depending on how you hit it. Likewise, steel will dent appropriately when damaged your fancy Force powers.

We'll bring you more details on this, and any further news on the possibility of this game heading to the Wii.
