News: StarCraft Ghost Canned

We've heard absolutely nothing on Blizzard's title for a while, but now it's official.

A Blizzard staff member has confirmed to GameSpot that the game will now only be released for PS2 and Xbox. For some explanation as to why, we can turn to comments from a moderator on the forums of Battle.net, the official Starcraft and Warcraft Web site, who revealed the official reason the game was shelved on Cube:

"In order to provide the game envisioned by the console team, a set and readily available online solution was needed. Unfortunately the GameCube has no online service and since so much work is going in to the online portion, it would be additional work to release only part of the intended game."

How it'd be additional work to release only part of the game, we're not sure. But the moderator did go on to say: "Nintendo systems certainly aren't something that we are against supporting. The GameCube and Revolution will still be considered for future products." So there's a silver lining there somewhere.
