News: Straps To Be Replaced..Not Recalled.

Nintendo to start strap replacement service this Monday.

We have seen the videos, and we have seen it reported on the news, but fear not- you will be able to use your Wiimote with a safe feeling in your heart from this Monday.

There has been somewhat of an issue regarding the Wii's connection to the strap, some have even dubbed as "flimsy." However, Satoru Iwata has said that the situation was being resolved, and it looks like something is being done about it.

Nintendo UK will start offering the strap-replacement service for concerned gamers on Monday, 18th December. Users need to call customers services on 0870 60 60 247 or send an email, and will then be able to send back their strap, after which Nintendo will dispatch a replacement.

It has also been revealed that Nintendo are shipping extra Wiimotes with the new updated strap.

However, a spokesperson for the company insisted that the offer was "not a recall". The current wrist-strap is "perfectly safe and has passed all the required safety tests" and there is "absolutely nothing wrong" with it, GamesIndustry.biz was told.

The measure is simply being taken to ensure peace of mind among the Wii's early user base, the spokesperson added.
