News: Street Fighter IV 3D Features Friend Codes

Famitsu details Super Street Fighter IV 3D and it seems Friend Codes will make a return on the 3DS. Update: Worldwide play included!

A new issue of Famitsu has revealed new information about Super Street Fighter IV 3D for the 3DS. The title will feature online play, which Capcom has promised will be lag-free. There will be three different match types: quick match, custom match and friend match. The title will also feature local multiplayer and download play as well.

The title will also features its own in-game achievements system in which players earn medals. Once you meet certain criteria in the game you will receive medals that can be viewed at your own leisure. Players rankings will include details of the amount of battle points they have, which can be increased by winning matches.

Just like the console versions Super Street Fighter IV 3D will be compatible with arcade challenge, whereby players can interrupt you for battles as you play arcade mode. This can be used both locally and on internet versus play.

The biggest bit of information most people have been focused on however is the mention of friends codes. However, as Andriasang mention in their report, it is not clear whether they are game-specific friend codes or universal ones.

Nintendo still hasn't given any official word on how or if friend codes will be implemented but expect them to be asked at next week's European and American 3DS events. We'll keep you updated with information as it happens.

Update:It is now revealed that along with local region play, worldwide play is inluded in the title. When Yoshinori Ono was asked on Twitter that Super Street Fighter IV didn't have worldwide matches, Ono replied that the title did infact support worldwide fights.
