News: Super Mario & Mario Kart 3D Named & Dated

Nintendo has unceremoniously announced the official names of two of their most anticipated games.

Within the official American press release announcing the 3DS price cut Nintendo mentioned a few of their upcoming titles. Up until this point Super Mario and Mario Kart 3D had been nothing more than placeholder names but now we have official names for them.

Nintendo's portly plumber will return in November for what looks set to be classic platforming action in Super Mario 3D Land later this year. The game brings elements from classic 2D Mario games and mixes them with popular 3D titles such as Super Mario Galaxy. Of course one of its biggest features is the ability to see the world in 3D, which Shigeru Miyamoto has claimed helps to judge distances while jumping. Joo wrote his hands on impressions of the title recently so be sure to see what he thought.

Also out in time for the seasonal period is the multiplayer classic Mario Kart, due for release in December. For the first time ever gamers can take to the skies and underwater and customise their kart to meet their needs. The game has now been given the official title Mario Kart 7, which may not be as exciting as Double Dash but it gets the point across. Expect hands on impressions of this soon!
