Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll

News: Super Monkey Ball Heads To DS!

Sega has announced a DS incarnation Super Monkey Ball! Monkeys, balls and your DS! What more could you wish for?

One of the most beloved franchises from Sega in recent times is heading to a dual-screen near you! In the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, it was revealed that Sega are at work on a DS version of the game.

Whether it will be a port of one of the two existing SMB titles, some sort of compilation of the two as seen in the recent PS2/Xbox release of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, or a completely new game is unknown at this time.

It's expected the game will feature more crazy levels to roll through, plus the usual mini games, and is set for a release in Japan by the end of the year.

Updated! New details have emerged about the game, now known to already be 60% complete. Movement in the main game will be controlled with the touch screen, as you roll through over 100 stages, some old, some new. Six party games will be included - 2 of which will allow for 4 players to wirelessly compete. Monkey Hockey and Monkey Race are the only two games confirmed at the moment, the latter using the bottom screen to display the race and the more traditional D-Pad for controls.

More as we get it!

Updated Again! Cube-Europe has obtained a scan from this month's Famitsu, which shows off a few nice screens of the newly announced game.
