Namco has secured the rights to the popular Warhammer franchise!
According to IGN, Namco has snapped up the development and publishing rights to the Warhammer table-top gaming phenomenon.
According to the report, Namco will be developing games based on the franchise for unspecified consoles, the PC and most interestingly, handhelds.
For those of you unfamiliar with Warhammer, let me key you in: Warhammer is a war game featuring fantasy races represented as miniatures on a battlefield, these miniatures are painted by their respective owners and battle against a myriad of races such as Dark Elves, Dwarves, Humans and Orcs. There's a yearly tournament/miniature painting competition for enthusiasts and also a monthly magazine.
Most recently, the Warhammer 40,000 universe appeared on the PC as a real-time strategy game to high critical acclaim. Imagine sending hordes of Orcs and High Elves to do battle with your friends wirelessly through the DS!
Although this is pure speculation, it sounds like a cool idea. We're already polishing our +1 Mace and Shield Of Rithkar in anticipation...
