News: Take Two Fully Support Wii and DS

Take Two's recent Conference Call gives insight into their plans for Wii and DS...

Take Two recently held an Conference Call discussing the last quarter as well as future plans. Wii and DS were mentioned and it can only mean good things for Wii and DS owners.

Strauss Zelnick is Take Two's Chairman and he had a lot to say about Wii and DS when saying; "To be perfectly frank, I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to realize what's going on with Wii and DS. I will tell you that very quickly we turned to both 2K and to Rockstar and said guys, we need a DS strategy and a Wii strategy and we are working on it. As we get into the next quarter and into budget season for 2008, everybody in this company is completely focused on it." It is interesting to hear that they do have a clear strategy planned for Wii and DS and that they do realize the massive growth of both consoles (although like he says only an idiot wouldn't notice!)

He also mentioned the recently announced Carnival Games and how it has got a lot of attention at the marketplace which bodes well for sales. It also could been seen as a sign that if the game sells well, we can expect a lot of casual games coming our way, although don't rule out more mature games appearing if Manhunt 2 sells well.

Interestingly though it seems more could be on its way when he added "Some Wii titles have been announced and we are working to put more out on the Wii and DS.", whether or not this will end up being more casual games or hardcore.

Stay tuned in at N-Europe for more as and when we get it.
