News: Teachers Play Wii On Staff Training Day!

Teachers get to play Wii on staff training days, cue press outcry. Won't somebody think of the children?

Teacher training days - we all remember them. Those glorious days off dotted around the school year where you got a random day of freedom while your teachers were the ones being educated. But now it seems they are playing Wii, table football, badminton, and tai-chi.

The news comes amid press and parental concern of the content at a recent training day for staff of schools in Cromer, England, aimed at "continuing professional development". Said one parent:

"My children have the day off and are obviously over the moon, however I have to take a day off to look after them. I have been told privately that the training day consists of Indian head massage, a table tennis tournament, Reiki, interpretive art classes and swimming."

Local MP for North Norfolk Norman Lamb said he was planning to contact the schools about the issue. Meanwhile the schools themselves have issued a statement saying that the day was organised to "enable staff to come together" and "improve staff well-being".

Time to start considering a career in teaching?
