News: Telltale Takes WiiWare Back To The Jurassic

Great Scott! Telltale Games have secured the license to develop a series of games based on Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.

Following on from several critically acclaimed episodic series of games based on Sam & Max, Homestarrunner.com and Wallace & Gromit, Telltale Games have today confirmed a deal with Universal which will give them free reign of the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park franchises.

The deal allows Telltale to create two games based on the films over a two-year period, with Back to the Future hitting "all major gaming platforms", including WiiWare, as an episodic 'season' of games this winter. Jurassic Park is expected to follow shortly afterwards, though it remains unconfirmed whether or not the prehistoric terrors will also receive Telltale's trademark episodic treatment.

Telltale's CEO Dan Connors is confident that the games will be nothing short of brilliant, as is to be expected: "Our partnership with Universal is an exciting next step in our continued growth as a mass-market games publisher and developer. We are all huge fans of both of these franchises. For Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, we will leverage Telltale's expertise in story-telling and game design to deliver on the unique elements of each series, with our goal being to create compelling cinematic adventures paying homage to each franchise."

Will Telltale revive Marty McFly's iconic time-hopping DeLorean in addition to a host of new dinosaurs? Can we expect to be doing battle with Libyan terrorists and blood-thirsty velociraptors, or will gamers be in for a more light-hearted, comedic affair? Time will tell, but fans of these two epic trilogies would be positively mad not to keep tabs on Telltale Games' latest downloadable treats.
