News: The Last Story Dated for Europe

Hopefully it won't literally be Wii's...

Nintendo has confirmed a European release date for Mistwalker's ambitious Wii RPG The Last Story. The game will be available on February 24th 2012.

The Last Story is the latest game to come from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, and is the first title he's personally directed for several years. The game has you take control of a band of mercenaries questing across the beautiful Lazulis Island and its sprawling medieval capital Lazulis City.

As well as its epic single player quest, Nintendo is keen to emphasise the game's more ambitious multiplayer offerings. You can play with up to five other people across Europe in online Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and co-op modes.

The Last Story is one of a trio of first-party Japanese Wii titles to receive surprise European releases. Xenoblade Chronicles released this summer to universal acclaim, whilst the action-adventure Pandora's Tower is pencilled in for a release next year.
