News: The Last Story Gets Online Modes

This weeks Jump magazine spilled the beans on one last surprise on The Last Story, and it's a big one. Head inside for the full scoop...

With the release of The Last Story now around the corner for a Japanese release, Nintendo and Mistwalker has now seen fit to release details on one of the biggest parts of the game. The Last Story has an online component.

In this weeks Japanese Jump magazine, they revealed that The Last Story has both an online 6 player competitive mode, but also a 6 player online co-op mode. The competitive mode will have you selecting your favourite character to fight with on the battlefield against others, and the co-op mode will have you teaming up with friends and players to take on the more powerful monsters that need a good slaying. These modes can be selected through the "Raid Lobby" area.

No other details on the online announcement got mentioned, though Jump also spoke about what was said during a previous Iwata Asks. That the player will be able to customize their armour and weapons, and the equipment can be 'painted' to change the colour and you'll see you'll see the visual changes made to your character.

Finally some more plot details got revealed. General Trista, who was once the highest ranking knight in the imperial army has been travelling the world, looking for a connection between the war and the devastation of the imperial mainland. Jump mentioned that General Trista have a major role in terms of the plot.

The game is set to be released on Januray 27th. No word has been mentioned for a release outside of Japan just yet, but stay with N-Europe for more launch details.
