Meet the new breeds that will be added to the anticipated US version of the dog-breeder.
Today, Nintendo threw a bone to North American gamers eager for the dog-breeding sim Nintendogs to make the leap from Japan. In Japan, the game has seen fantastic sales to all kinds of consumers, and it is this kind of all-encompassing success that Nintendo is aiming for in other territories. To that end, Nintendo is tweaking the roster of available lil' puppies to better appeal to the national demographic at hand.
The new breeds to be added to the North American versions are the Golden Retriever, the Siberian Husky and the Boxer. As they are in Japan, the game will be offered in three packs: Labrador Retriever and Friends (populated by the miniature Schnauzers, toy poodles, Pembroke Welsh corgis, Shiba Inus, and miniature Doberman pinschers), Chihuahua and Friends (including the German shepherds, King Charles spaniels, Yorkshire terriers, Shetland sheepdogs, and the boxer), and Miniature Dachshund and Friends (bursting with beagles, pugs, Shih Tzus, golden retrievers and Siberian huskies). As a reminder, all dogs are eventually available in all three versions, the pack influences the starting availability of the puppies.
The game is scheduled for a US release August 22 of this year. The changes made for the benefit of American dog lovers begs the question: will European territories see their own mix of favorable breeds when the game makes its inevitable debut? More puppies to come, stay tuned...
