News: THQ Teases 'Very Innovative' Wii Project

The global publisher has some big words for an upcoming Wii project...

In an interview with CVG, THQ's global exec VP Ian Curran has teased Wii owners with the prospect of a potentially major project for the system.

"There's something else that we're going to reveal later on in the year that wasn't at E3, which is just very, very innovative. There are very few people who know about it at the moment. It's not another Kinect thing - it's to do with the Wii. People are talking about Kinect and Move at the moment, understandably - but if we'd have had this at E3, people would have been talking about this as a significant step forward for the Wii as well. Maybe [we'll show it at] Gamescom."

THQ were in full force at this year's E3 with the likes of such software as de Blob: The Underground and a new range of WWE titles. However, the language used by Curran suggests this new venture may not necessarily be a game on its own, but perhaps a new peripheral.

Gamescom is an event held in Germany that runs in the middle of August. We'll keep you apprised should any developments occur then.
