News: THQ Want To Be Able To Experiment

THQ has called for Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony to be more open to new business plans.

Brian Farrell, CEO of THQ, has called for all of the three major platform holders to be more open to new business plans in a discussion with MCV. He claims that their company is offering a brand new business model with their upcoming MX vs ATV Alive, which will allow gamers to add to it with free and paid-for downloadable content.

Speaking of the title Mr. Farrell stated: "We've seen the emergence of the free-to-play model where people will pay for the experience they want. We are applying that to the console business."

THQ now wish to see more companies apply this to consoles: "We've had robust discussions with all the first parties, and I think everyone knows that the business is going to evolve over time. Let's all be innovative and flexible and move forward in a positive way to figure out what our consumers want."

What do you think of Brain Farrell's comments? Should Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft be open to new business models?
