News: Tony Hawk: SHRED Announced

Activision has announced that Tony Hawk: SHRED will allow players to "GO BIG" this holiday season.

The newest instalment in the Tony Hawk franchise will see a shift in direction for the series. Not only will players now be able to hit the virtual Alps with the snowboarding option but the title will also focus on the younger market in the hope to get them active.

Once again the motion board that was released with Tony Hawk: Ride will be used to encourage children to "get off the couch and into the action". Like the previous titles in the series players will be able to perform tricks to earn points and compete against friends.

For the first time in the series players will also be able to snowboard down the French Alps, the Whistler and in Beijing. The game will feature the likeliness of pro-skaters Tony Hawk, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins, Corey Duffel, Sean Malto, David Gonzalez, Geoff Rowley, Stevie Williams and Chaz Ortiz; and snowboarders Travis Rice, Louie Vito and Torah Bright. The Wii version of the title will allow gamers to import their own Miis too.

"Tony Hawk: SHRED is all about experiencing over-the-top, almost unbelievable GO BIG moments throughout the game - the kind of tricks and stunts that we can only hope to achieve as our sports continue to evolve," said Tony Hawk. "I'm also excited about including snowboarding in SHRED, because when we originally came up with the board motion-controller, we didn't just have skateboarding in mind, and it's nice to finally see that idea coming to fruition."
