News: Tony Hawks DS Details

Tony Hawks DS gets a new name and heap of new information unveiled! Click inside to hear more...

From now on, the dual-screened version of Tony Hawks will be called Tony Hawk's American Sk8land! The different name from it's bigger console brothers reflects how it is setting itself apart graphically - a stylised art look which runs a silky smooth 60 frames per second, even in detailed and fully 3D environments.

The second screen will show an overhead view of your area via a scrolling map, highlighting locations and objectives. As previously announced, the microphone will be used to record voice samples played during a bail, special move or leap.

Touch screen controls allow special moves to be pulled off with ease once your special meter is full. You will also be able to use your stylus in the Create-A-Park mode, and while designing custom deck art and graffiti tags.

The game is set to be the first third-party online title, with wi-fi multiplayer enabled versions of the standard two player games - Trick Attack, Score Challenge, Combo Mambo, The Price is Wrong, and Horse, with more internet features still yet to be announced. High scores can also be posted to servers for all to see.
