The head of prominent publisher 2K Games has recently spoken his thoughts on 'the Wii question'...
The dominating criticism that many choose to use against Wii is that the console is flooded with shovelware. Indeed, the main downside of having the console which is putting competitors' sales to true embarasment is the fact that everyone is going to want a piece of the pie.
The president of 2K Games, a publisher responsible for hits such as Bioshock and Elder Scrolls IV, Christoph Hartmann recently gave his two cents about the situation of games on Wii.
"Where people go wrong in the casual market is that, while the development costs are exploding on the casual side, they're treating the Wii like the old PC market making cheap, accessible games. They think if they make ten titles and two are hits, they will finance the other eight. But they forget these eight crappy titles will flood the market and will lead to problems in terms of production and upset retailers. Also, the consumer will be pissed off because they'll be confused. While the Wii is the strongest growing console, it's a risk not to have well known brands in your games."
2K Games own Carnival Games has been a consistent seller on Wii.
