Two Japan-only Mario games will be heading to the Virtual Console, in Australia at least...
Two new games have been rated by the OFLC in Australia - Mario's Super Picross on the SNES and Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan) on the NES.
The original NES Super Mario Bros. 2 was never released outside Japan (the rest of the world got Doki Doki Panic with Mario characters instead) in it's original form. Two heavily altered versions of the NES game were released with Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, but the original version has never been released outside Japan before.
Mario's Super Picross is the SNES sequel to Mario's Picross on the Game Boy. In the game, Mario must solve Picross puzzles (the puzzle game has had a recent release on the DS) against a clock. It also features two types of gameplay: in Mario's levels, the clock counts down and you lose time for any mistakes you make. You can also play as Wario, and in his levels the clock counts up from zero, and no penalties are given for mistakes (you aren't told when you make a mistake, either).
Europe traditionally gets VC games at the same time as in Australia (with the exception of Turbographx games), so it's highly likely that Europe will see these games, too.
