Posted 15 Jan 2003 at 01:17 by Tim Symons
Due to be shipped for PC, PlayStation2, and GameCube, Downtown Run is said to appeal to a wide audience of players thanks to its frenetic and easy-to-pick-up game-play, its licensed cars, the many game modes and the beautifully modelled cities players will be invited to rush through. Downtown Run will be released during 2003's first semester in Europe.
"Our vision for Downtown Run was to create an exciting arcade racing experience set in a seemingly plausible and accessible world, and mixing purely arcade ingredients like the power ups with a very skidy car behaviour." said Thomas Le Grand, producer of the game at Ubi Soft.
Downtown Run will offer players an intense racing experience and provide everyone with instant fun thanks to its attractive tracks in beautiful cities, its frenetic action, and its intuitive handling. They will have to learn to gather and use power-ups on the road in order to defeat opponents, and to drive with style to unlock new cars and tracks. The varied environments and prestigious licensed cars, such as the Audi TT, the Ford Mustang, or the VW New Beetle will please the casual players as well as more experienced arcade racing games fans.
The "prestige" system rewarding the ability to perform dangerous moves while avoiding accidents, the eight different game modes, the cars and tracks to unlock, and the catch-up feature ensuring never-ending action will offer constant new single and multiplayer challenges to the player.
