News: Ubisoft Reveals Fiscal Results

The French publisher sees big sales, a moderate loss, and disappointment for high-budget titles...

Ubisoft have posted their results for the first half of this fiscal year, with the period ending on September 30th. The publisher saw sales for the half up 56.7 percent to $343.5 million, but suffered a net loss of $88.4 million, although this was narrower than the period last year.

The high sales were attributed to the continued success of the Just Dance franchise on Wii and the popularity of the downloadable game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. However, Ubisoft admitted that two big HD games, H.A.W.X. 2 and R.U.S.E. "performed below expectations". Must be the curse of the acronym.

Ubisoft say they are on track to close the fiscal year with full sales of $1.3 billion thanks to a wide selection of games on offer over the Christmas period, including Just Dance 2, Michael Jackson: The Experience, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time. However, the company confirmed two major titles, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Driver: San Francisco will slip back into the next fiscal year, which starts April 2011.
