News: Ubisoft To Work On Tom Clancy Film?

After recently acquiring the whole rights to the Tom Clancy franchise, it seems the French publisher has more than just games lined up...

Last week it was announced that Ubisoft had paid 47m for the Tom Clancy franchise, which includes the option to produce movies as well. Said Ubisoft head honcho Yves Guillemot:

"Step by step we have to learn how to give more emotions to our consumers. This will help us get closer and closer to creating movies or internet products that will entertain. A year ago we started to create Ubisoft Digital Arts in Montreal so we can have a group capable of creating animations and movies in the future."

And as for Hollywood productions?

"We are open to that because we don't have that kind of know-how. In the future we plan to work on them at the same time as games."

It isn't official confirmation, but judging by the number of recent videogame to movie conversions, we really wouldn't be surprised. Saying that, we're still waiting for that Metroid movie...
